Fantastic - another milestone accomplished!
And there are "a few more" ahead I guess...

Anyway... Good luck with the new home!

It's so cool to get a glimpse of Zippy in the background. 8-)

Re: A day in the life...

It's a fantastic feeling! The garage is going to be full of home stuff for a while as we figure out where to put stuff but zippy has a spot to sit inside to keep our of the weather. He's been sitting on a car hauler in the bad weather for over three weeks so I want to get him inside and emptied so I can dry out the pans and contents.

Re: A day in the life...

In this day and age with all it's compressed media formats sound quality became miserable IMHO.
Even budget CD players and headphones are capable to astonish today's youngsters.
Not to mention quality turntables & speakers...

My 12 year old nephew was baffled that this huge black disc produces sound when put on that funny steam punk machine.

I consider modern MP3 players to be a handy replacement for a Walkman or compact cassette player - no more, no less.
But this is the cool shit - still... :)

Re: A day in the life...

so in other news, iv been trying to repair a Sega Genesis game (RBI 94). when i first tested it like 3 months ago i was getting a faulty reading on the chip. research reveled that you can fix it with a 1k resistor. just solder the resister between the ground and the faulty pin on the chip and it should work. so i finally bought a 100 pack of 1k resistors for $5 bucks.
well today i open the game back up to solder in a resistor, get out the multimeter, and every stinking pin on the chip is reading normal. :?
so i start checking other components. the half ohm fuse is reading just fine. the 47uf 16v capacitor on the other hand is giving a reading i can only describe as fucked up. so apparently the capacitor is F'ed up. so i just ordered a 10 pack of capacitors for another $5.

now here's the kicker. i can literally go buy another copy of this game for like $6. and i already have RBI 93 and RBI 3 sitting on the shelf. so yeah...

Cardboard woofer cabinet mock-up for the bug...
After various unsuccessful attempts to hide a woofer under the backseat or in the backseat backrest
I ended up with a "semi stealth" solution under the passenger seat.

Well, it took an additional 5 years but I finally managed to snag aircooledvwaddiction.com after a scalper dropped it. This completes the reclamation of both domains that Dylan let expire.

Fuck domain scalpers.

Re: A day in the life...

They hold them for two reasons. First, in the hopes that the drop was accidental and that it's valuable to the old owner. Secondly that it's valuable due to keywords in it. They don't care how many people used the domain in question because they grab them practically for free, hold on to them for years then drop them if there's no interest in buying them for huge sums of money. The majority of the webs domains are currently held by them and they're a blight on the web.

I love picking them up for $10 hours after they were for sale for thousands. It gives me a semi.
