While the Bug was at the paint shop I took care of the transmission and the CV joint shafts...

New throw-out bearing installed...

I banished the tar boards from the engine bay - thus added a final layer of black textured paint.
That stuff is normally used to finish PA speaker cabinets... :D

IIRC I used mate black rattle can paint for the engine tins.
The starter, the generator pulley and the "inner" generator tin were painted with a brush using semigloss synthetic-resin varnish.

I think that's the nicest starter I've ever seen.
