we all get them, those out of the blue random wtf moments when something pops into our heads. could be an old advertising slogan, song lyrics, movie or TV quotes. an unrelated thought about something your working on. a general observation. its just those quick few lines that amuse you for the moment. lets hear'm.

my random thought for the day. you know you're getting jaded when you start watching porn for the plot.

As I was running plumbing in the basement today, I looked over at the toilet which looks original to the house's 1982 build date and wondered how many people have used it.

i feel ya on that one.
but, in some situations it has to have the ground prong on top to pass code (hospitals for example). it's a safety thing. if anything falls between the plug and wall it'll hit the ground or one prong and ground and it's safe.
i don't give a damn though, when i plug in the nintendo and the "wall wart" is upside down, that tells me the outlet it upside down.

I'm aware of the reason but I'm sure you'll agree that this is bureaucratic busy work for someone writing these codes. There's a reason you(or anyone else) haven't read any statistics regarding structure fires and shorts caused by someone's butter knife falling off the dining room table, finding a plug half-inserted and falling exactly into the gap with a perfect balance across the hot and neutral prongs that it doesn't flip out of the gap and happening on the one circuit in the structure with a faulty circuit breaker. Oh and the guy that dropped the knife off the table didn't happen to notice the smoke emanating from the wall outlet.

It's the electrical code equivalent of this:
