Received the Klein headset bearings today - yay!
Got them from https://www.kleinspainted.com in the UK.
They concentrate on Pre-Trek Kleins and do awesome paint jobs!

Man, those are some gorgeous frames. I've got a couple youtube subscriptions where they've tried sunburst paintjobs but nothing like that, that first pic looks like it had some lighting making it look like that.

Nowadays this '99 Manitou SX isn't considered to be a fork at all.
Anyway... It came with the Klein thus I'll keep it but with an updated design...

^^^ 8-) Buggys are quite rare over here. The clime is not suitable I guess. Wait a minute... In a few years may be...

Cousin stopped by with her New Beetle...

Headset bearings and fork are back in...

I felt uneasy about the instructions given in the 1999 Klein tech manual to tap the top bearing into place.
So I made this redneck tool to press it into the head tube.
It worked surprisingly well I even forgot to take some pics of it attached to the frame. :D

I made the same tool as you, although mine was less precise in construction. It has worked just fine for all of the headsets I've ever needed to press in.

Got the exterior framing inspection done so started roughing in some wiring in the kids apartment today. The wall is the easy part. Tomorrow will be attic space work(120+ f temps).

Wow, very diligent & quite accurate. When it comes to wiring I'm lost for the most part...
Except for connecting a bulb may be. :D

Now that's cozy...
That will be a sweaty mess... Hopefully not dealing with insulation materials.
Good luck!!

Re: A day in the life...

it was 108 here yesterday. went outside a few times, the humidity finally burned off about 2pm, so it was tolerable out if you were taking it easy in the shade. then by 8pm it was 80 degrees with 80% humidity and it was absolute F'ing miserable again. words can not describe how much i hate humidity.

The right coast is so used to humidity, it's just part of the outdoor experience. Being completely soaked in sweat while working in 90 degrees is the crappiest way to spend the day.
