you never learn nothin by mistake if you're to careful
Re: Imagery...
I have a lot of questions about that. I just can't see how a second spark plug would change the output of that engine by any significant margin even if it's intended to be a "lagging" spark to try to benefit from any unburnt fuel.

Re: Imagery...
here's the kicker. it's a Porsche engine. probably from a 356. iv got a feeling it may be a redundancy/backup for endurance racing. but really im just guessing here.

Re: Imagery...
Oh I bet you're right, a redundant system like in a plane. Smart thinking but so complex for a 4 cylinder lawn mower. Love that exhaust though!

The air/fuel mixture burns relatively slow...Wikipedia wrote:Dual ignition provides two advantages: redundancy in the event of in-flight failure of one
ignition system; and more efficient burning of the fuel-air mixture within the combustion chamber.
With two spark plugs the flame front will progress faster and more uniformly throughout the combustion chamber.

I bet that fan moves some SERIOUS air across the cylinders. Look how wide it is, like a mini jet turbine
