Those were great but the last two really spoke to me.

And that military scheme is the most devoted I've ever seen, the frame around the windshield, the fuel door and wow, can you believe the dash?

Re: Imagery...

I love the special-case VWs. I'm pretty sure we talked about the usage for that one(although no that one specifically) as being designed to lead planes around the field.

Here's a cool one although I'm lost as to it's purpose.

This is an odd pic... :o
Searched the web for some more info - to no avail. Didn't even find the pic... :?

The number plate could be German. DT was assigned to the county of Detmold in 1956.
The combination of the county code and a number only may be be a hint that the county was
the registered keeper of the car. (DT - 3021 vs. DT - XY 3021)

The convertible is a '54 or earlier I guess. It has a search light at the drivers side.
Police cars had these...

That huge gauge is a speedometer (k.p.h.). It has the Kienzle logo.
My first guess was it could be sort of a commercial gimmick...
But if it's an official (or police) car this would make no sense.

I wonder if this speedo worked...
May be it was sort of a road safety education experiment... :)

And we have Photoshop and the likes...
Aside from jester schwim... :D
