what's left of the threads in carb seemed to clean up. new stud cleaned up and threaded in. how well is yet to be determined. but i threaded it in there (double nut method) with copious amounts of red loctite. fingers crossed

just bolted the carb on. the cleaned threads, longer stud, and red loctite seems to have worked!

after installing the fuel pump; i got in touch with my ghetto fabrication skillz and "mounted" the coil. the good news i didn't have to put holes in anything. the bad news is i can't get a breast plate to fit, but sense this is temperary im not concerned.

i also ordered some high zink break in oil from summit which should be here some time next week (it was backordered). also have a breather filter for the oil filler coming so i don't have to run a hose form the oil breather to the air filter. when i pick up the tires next week i need to remember to pick up some fuel line and a new air filter (at least new element).

im also highly considering a change in wheels. i had been eyeing 2 liters but i keep seeing cars on 8 spokes and im like hmmm... 8-) so idk.

anyway here's a couple pic's

Is the breastplate mounting tabs just not lining up with the tins? I had that problem a lot with the aftermarket tins when working at the engine shop. We often had to open up the bolt slots some to get it in place.

When do you plan on sticking it in the car?

the breast plate fit fine after some "massaging" until i put the intake manifold on. the pre-heat tubes are in the way and one side is to low and won't let it slide on. my German breast plate would work (although with a large open spot to the left of the pully) if i hadn't ghetto mounted the coil.
it's all temporary. i figure it's going to be easier to get it running stock than with a bunch of new parts and mods. eventually it will be getting one of those CB Performance distributors, coil mounts and coils. duel 40 IDF carbs and an electric fuel pump.

idk when it's going in. still need to get some brake clean to wipe down the flywheel and pressure plate so i can install the clutch. also need to install the new throwout bearing. those things might happen this weekend idk.

i also need to pick up new fuel line and an air filter...

after pricing them out last night. nope! would cost me over $1000 for the chrome ones.

but they pop up at the swap meet all the time and are usually cheap and there's a Drag Day coming up next month so ill be keeping my eyes open ;)
