ok, all the tin work finally fits! i had to go back to German cylinder tins cause the aftermarket ones just weren't working. i still have to sandblast and repaint them, but they fit. so i think that wraps up the hard stuff. also think i decided the hell with it, im just going to get an electric fuel pump and regulator and put that in. was planning on doing that when go duel carbs but what the hell might as well do it now.
but anyway, here's the engine with fully fitting tin!

It's looking fantastic, man. Has carburetion already been discussed? What are you going to use on it?

That looks fantastic, man. Are you getting to spend some time on the project or are you just fitting things in between daily stuff?

Re: the never ending project. 71 super build

week days i run out of sunlight and my garage is freezing (46 in there this morning) so im limited. weekends iv got nothing to do so i can work on it all day and i can open the garage door at 9:30 and its usually pushing 60 degrees in there by noon. . im going to run out of parts before i run out of time.

it's under final assembly. iv been dreading putting the distributor drive gear in, the last one i did i got a tooth off. this one went in like butter, right in place and perfectly positioned!
and sense something went good, i also had to have something go bad.

the last few threads seem ok. so im going to take it to work next week (i have access to metric taps there) to clean up what's left of all the threads. then i found a longer stud that doesn't have the knurling in the middle in my metric hardware bin that might be long enough. going to see if i can red loctite it in there. if that doesn't work, then yeap, going to have to put in a heli-coil.
