Public but completely unmaintained by the forestry service. They simply shut down trails and campsites that fall into disrepair in this county so I do what I can to keep this one open.

From what I understand, they're somewhat lenient here but more importantly they're completely MIA. I've maintained these trails for 10 years without coming across a forestry service worker. I've used hand tools, weedeaters, mowers and chainsaws without issue.

I will say though that some toothless meth head stole my mower :)

Re: A day in the life...

here's how it goes down in CA. no forest rangers, no cops, no maintenance workers, no nobody. fire up a weed whacker, lawn mower, chain saw, etc, and one will jump out of the brush like a ninja to ask what you think you're doing. and that's how you end up with a court date.

we've got meth heads to, but they steal bikes not mowers. not sure most people around here even own a lawn mower any more.

Wow, it really looks fantastic! There's something about driving your Beetle after a long time of not getting to. I still have my first drive video of Zippy and I watch it every once in a while to feel it again. I can smell Zippy when I watch it :)

I've begun trolling eBay, which is dangerous. I try to keep my moments of opportunity unplanned while on my travels.
