He really did fire the pistol and it did hit the target but tossing the round into the chamber and sliding it home is kind of like the girl's clothes being blown off by the 50 cal sniper rifle; it's a little movie magic :)

That's what I thought but you never know... :D
And "round" would be the correct term...
I think there isn't a theoretical chance to do that trick?

Certain pistols may allow for a chance due to a loose fit between the round and chamber but most are just too tight a fit to just toss it in. It's got to align perfectly or it would just jam when the slide is brought forward.
